Welcome to Forest Heights STEM Academy and eighth grade English. This is my third year at FHSA. I have been in the Little Rock School District since 1999-2000, In addition to English, I have taught gifted/talented, pre-K, kindergarten, second, and fifth grades. I really enjoy interacting with middle school students. They are just coming into their own, and if I can help ease that transition at all, then I will have succeeded in doing something positive in their lives. Twice, I received the Teacher of the Year award at Mann Arts and Science Middle School (2005, 2012); in 2011-2012, and I was the LRSD Teacher of the Year receiving the Marian G. Lacey Educator of the Year award. This esteemed award has been the highlight of my teaching career. Since I was in fifth grade, I have known teaching was for me! I have never for one moment regretted my decision to become an educator.
I was born and raised in Fayetteville, and yes, I am a Razorback! I graduated with my BSE in elementary and early childhood education from the U of A. My MAT is from Harding. I am a National Board Certified Teacher. I have been married for 39 years to a fellow Razorback who happens to be an environmental geologist. His job took us to Oklahoma City for four years and then Houston for twelve years. We returned to Arkansas in 1994. We have three grown children who are busy with careers, families, and such. I am crazy about my grandsons, Tom, Ben, and Easton, and my granddaughter Lola! In addition to family and work, my husband and I do animal rescue work, something we find immensely rewarding.
One thing I absolutely promise students and parents is this: I am always available for you. My school phone is 447-2751. My email is [email protected].
